The NCILS mission is to provide access to a more independent lifestyle for persons with disabilities through advocacy, education, coordination of services and information as directed by consumer need.

Who is eligible for NCILS’ services?

Any person who has a disability and a need to live more independently is eligible for services at NCILS. There are no restrictions based upon the individual’s age or disability.

Community & Legislative Advocacy Opportunities

An online portal designed to inform you about current local, state, and national issues that affect the lives of people with disabilities.

Youth Transition Services

Support and resources for in-school and out of school youth who are transitioning into adulthood are available. Call for more information!

Advocacy

Advocacy services offered at NCILS, Independent Living Specialists support people (adults and youth) to advocate for what they need to live independent and fulfill lives.

Peer Support

Through NCILS’ Peer Support program, a person with a disability provides counseling and support on a one-to-one basis with another person who is experiencing personal problems related to a disabling condition. The peer helper functions as a role model, advocate, and resource person.

Personal Assistance Services

This program is designed to allow fully Medicaid-eligible persons with a disability to manage their personal care. The SDPAS program allows the consumer to stay in their home and be the manager of their own care.

SSA Work Incentives

NCILS has certified benefits planners on staff who provide SSA beneficiaries information about work, Social Security work incentive programs and rules, and other types of benefits and assistance available.

Living Well with a Disability Classes

The more prepared you are to meet the demands of your environment, the more successful you are likely to be. This workshop is designed to help you strengthen the skills you already have so you can live well.
