Advocacy

Through the advocacy services offered at NCILS,  Independent Living Specialists help persons with disabilities:

  • identify their independent living needs
  • develop an individual plan of action to meet those needs
  • learn about resources available
  • develop problem-solving skills necessary for ensuring and independent and self-determined lifestyle
  • instruction and assistance in building self-advocacy skills for youth and adults
  • provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in systems change activities on topics that present barriers to full inclusion to the community
